Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Mandalorian Mercs Costume Club?

The Mandalorian Mercs (also called MMCC by it's members) was created in April of 2007 by Tom Hutchens as a home for "non-canon" Mandalorian armor costumers. MMCC's first "event" was held at AdventureCon 2007 in Knoxville TN, with 4 members in attendance. Since then, MMCC has grown from 4 members to 226 members in 2 chapters around the world making it the 4th largest Star Wars costume club in the world.

Does Lucasfilm LTD. recognize the MMCC?

As of June 2007, Mandalorian Mercs gained LFL approval to use it's club name and logo for use in merchandise and media pertaining to the club. Mandalorian Mercs has also participated in several Lucasfilm LTD. sponsored events.

What is membership in MMCC?

MMCC has 2 levels of membership within the organization, "Unofficial Member" and "Official Member".

"Unofficial Members" are defined as individuals who have access to the MMCC forums, but do not yet meet requirements to be considered Official Members. "Unofficial Members" may join Official Members at events in support roles only until they have completed the necessary requirements to gain full membership.

"Official Members" are defined as individuals who have completed and MMCC approved sets of Mandalorian Armor. "Official Members" attend events in costume and are privy to special merchandise and offerings from the club. "Official Members" may also hold organizational positions within the club as well participate in organizational voting.

What does it take to join MMCC as an "Unofficial Member"?

To join MMCC as an "Unofficial Member", you need only to register on the MMCC's official forums at www.mandalorianmercs.com.

What does it take to join MMCC as an "Official Member"?

To join MMCC in an "Official" capacity, you must be a registered member on the forums in good standings, 18 years of age (children under 18 MUST have a parent who is a current official member) as well as own a MMCC approved Mandalorian Armor costume. Armor requirements and standards can be found at www.mandalorianmercs.com.

What is a "Clan" in MMCC?

A "Clan" is an official chapter of the Mandalorian Mercs Costume Club. Basic clans consist of 5 "Official Members" who can gather regularly for events. Clans are allowed 3 officers; Alor'ad or the Clan Leader, Ver'alor or the Clan XO, and Ruus'alor or Sergeant at Arms.

Who runs the MMCC?

The MMCC is governed by a organizational council labeled the "Cuy'Val Dar Council". This council is made up of official members who have set themselves outside of normal Clan duties to help govern MMCC. Above the council is the Mand'alor, or chief governing officer of the MMCC. The Council and Mand'alor work in tandem as a "check and balance" system, so that all decisions/changes/policies are considered fair and honest. All Council positions at this time are appointed except for Regional Commanders which can be elected by their regions on a yearly basis.

Outside of the Council is the "Round table" or gathering of Clan Alor'ad and Ver'alor. This body helps advise the Council and Mand'alor on decisions that will not transparently effect the club.

Is MMCC the right Star Wars club for me?

If you enjoy creativity while also being part of the Star Wars Universe, then MMCC may be the right place for you. If you enjoy an organizational which encourages complete family participation, then MMCC may be the right place for you. If you enjoy teaching others about creating Mandalorian costumes, then MMCC may be the right place for you.

Does MMCC do charity work?

Yes! In fact, MMCC is the only club that maintains it's own charity fund. We call it the "Help a Verd'ika Fund", and take great pride in it's ability to help underprivileged children during Christmas.
