Progress so far... comments welcome!
« on: Jun 19, 2012, 12:55 PM »
Ner vode,

I've been posting my progress in the Latin America boards, but I'd also like some feedback from a broader audience.

Please do not consider these as pre-application pics, just a heads-up on how my kit's coming along.

As usual, comments and critiques are welcome.

Cheers!

Thanks a lot, guys!  :D

As for the chest plates, I got them as straight as I could... maybe it's the angle of the pic. I'll get some full frontal pics so you can see them better.

Cheers!

The plates must have moved... They're fine on the first pic... So I wouldn't worry too much about that...

Great job over all...!! Great details...!  8)

Sounds good more pics are always welcome! What's your attachment method? If it's velcro it's probly just your pose that moved the plates in that second pic, which is the one I was basing my comment on  :)

Again sweet kit!  ;D

Thanks! The plates are actually attached with snaps (I got them that way); only the diamond is velcroed and can be adjusted. Actually, I'm thinking it's the diamond in the second pic that could be throwing things off... anyway, I'll be posting better pics.

Cheers!

Great work! Love to see really good looking, original kits like this. I really like open front leather trench jacket you have. Not often a fan of trench coats, but yours is just too well done for me not to like! Can we see a shot of the back?

I think what Serim is referring to is the large gap between the chest plates and the ab plate that's evident in your second pic.

Thanks for that! Here's the back:

BTW, the trench coat is actually not leather, but vinyl; I hit it with a mist of grey primer here and there and then some good ol' clear coat, with a bit of silver dry brush around the edges to make it look aged.

As for the chest plates, I see what you both mean; the thing is, that was the closest I could get the top of the ab plate to the diamond, and apparently the bottom contours of the chest plates are not entirely parallel to the top contours of the ab plate, as they widen towards the outer edges (hope that makes sense).

Since the plates are snapped on, I don't really have room to move... I was thinking that maybe I could sew some inner darts on the vest around the ab plate, to bring it a bit closer to the chest plates... any ideas?

Thanks for the input!

One thing that sticks out to me is your loin cloth looks kinda bland compaired to the rest of your kit. Maybe add some black leather edging to it to help bring it out some. Besides that maybe re cut your abb plate to nip the point at the top and widen it a bit to better fill the gap.

Pre app pics or not, you got a great looking kit. You should be proud of what you've done here.

Have a good one,
Hagen
