Electro'noculars
« on: Jun 19, 2012, 02:32 AM »
Since there is no real place to post a WIP about a general prop and to help future beast hunters (when the brigade is formed) I decided that here would be a good as place any other to post.

I started with a box that came with a set of knives that I bought a few years ago, cut off part of the ends, and nailed it shut. I then added a few other pieces of wood, and gave it a light coating of steel plastic.
here is the result

I had planned on attaching and being able to move the large knob in the pic, but as you can see in the pic below that didn't work out.

So I vaguely remember someone posting a tut using the chain lock thingys (tech term there) and thought that would be a great way to hang it off my kama.

So with the attachment problem solved, I started to clean up both the top and bottom. I took quite a bit off with sanding and a chisel.

I then attached it with some more bondo... so more sanding tomorrow...

To see more pics check out my album on FB

Comments and critics are welcome!

Did some more work today...

I am going to fill in the space that is in the pic above with Bondo... prolly tomorrow

I am going to add a "visor" here, it will be glued in, after I paint it.

Looking good.  Are you going to add some gribblees?

Well... it got primered....

Then the darn thing just jumped into a bronze and oil bath....

I wanted to leave it looking just a tad rough... I am not one for perfection, and if i am going to destroy part of it to weather it, I might as well leave it looking rough.

I still have to give it a blackwash, and glue in the "visors", but I am liking the way it looks....

I agree looks great.  How about a strap.. so you can hang it around your neck.

I would, but I already have enough stuff hanging off my neck, plus it would cover my baldric & knife.....

More pics...

Still need to give it a black wash, and a clear coat to protect it... and I need to get on the visor, which should be either this weekend, or tuesday... most likely this weekend

Well I have a few projects that I am working on currently.

Jetpack
Hondo's Sword
Sith Acolyte
Mythosaur Dagger
I am also planning out a droid, though that is currently under wraps. I have also planned out a Legacy Mando, that I plan on making from scratch. That one is out a few years, since we have some house improvements that need to done to keep the heating bills down...
