Late crusader - first Mando

(1/35) > >>

Fennius:
Right I'm home for a week before popping out to spain for another week, and I've decided rather than working on the other stuff I have going on, to finally start a mando. Now as much as I want this to be a good one I'm going to try to do it as cheaply as possible mostly as a learning/practice experience. Hopefully I'll get soemthing good out the other end.

I chose a late Crusdaer era Mando mainly because I don't want to do those cheek sections of the helmet. :D I'm trying to keep it fast and simple for the first one. :D Besides, I quite like the corinthian helmet look you get with smooth cheeks.

I started doing concept art...then remembered I suck at drawing . :) I'll probably do soem more in a bit but for now I'm keeping ideas in my head and kinda winging it. :)

Anyways, my current plan it to make the armour from card and cardboard then resin the outside and if necessary fibreglass the inside. My main reasoning being that resin alone is easier to sand down. Some pics will come up later, I'm working on the base for the helmet right now.

Niabi:
Looking forward to seeing this come together Vod ;D

If you need a hand with anything just ask ;)

Zophar Ptay:
Another crusader joins the rising ranks!

Nate Jangotat:
Watching with interest  ;)

On the vok'chi boards there is a helpful list of places you can pick up the parts you'll need for the rest of the costume. Good luaniseed see you at another troop soon  :D

Fennius:
Thanks guys.

First off, the the things I have lying around already:

Trophy lightsabre

Tubing(not much left though)

And I've got a couple of toy guns somewhere, one or two could probably be reworked, and I have a dark green boiler suit from the Ice Lord costume, but I'm thinking greys and blues for this.

On the build itself, this is what I have so far:

I think I'll try putting a small Phase 1 style crest on it since I've always liked those, one idea I had was rather than have the mandibles(that's it, right?) extruding from the helmet, I might have the edge of them as a line scoried into it (and possibly tighter in than later ones), or I might just leave them off entirely). Don't think I'll include a range finder, I'll probably put soemthing at the sides though whether its the long earcaps you normally get or smaller, rounder ones I'm not sure yet.
