I agree with what the others have said on the plate sizing. Just use the outside edges as a guide and come in the same distance all the way down. That way you have a new line to cut at that matches the original. Also the pants you will be using for your flightsuit are rather baggy on you, I would take those in a bit. ;)

The ears on that helmet look extremely similar to a Numenorian Helmet from the Lord of the Rings, seen here
I like the design that you have so far, but thats what it reminds me of

I know exactly what you mean! I remember seeing the concept in the art thread weeks ago. Even then it seemed familiar... the Numenorian is on the right track, but it's still bugging me... Not the helmet itself, of course! Only my memory loss.

Yes ears remind me of voltron, thunder cats, optimus prime ears from when I was a kid. Could be cool though. Can only try and see vod.

Thanks guys! And yeah, I guess they do look a lot like the old school stuff, I do love mechas.

I got around to fixing up the pants a little last night, I think they definitely fit a lot better now. Didn't really tuck the shirt in right on this fit since I was focusing on the pants though.

And unfortunately since the weather is being uncooperative...looks like I won't be doing any armor work tomorrow. Ah well.

Okay...any suggestions on how to transfer a design to fabric? I know there's the iron-on paper but that can leave stray marks (and it'd be a pain to cut out), but has anyone tried other methods?

If its something like the mythosaur skull or a clan logo, you could print out your design, use an exacto knife to cut it out (like a stencil), and then use spray on fabric paint.

if its a picture like of a sunset or something, either the iron on or hand painting it would be your best bet

Honestly, the only thing I've ever trusted is professional printing. And one item really doesn't cost that much! Any printer (even an embroidery shop) should be able to run fabric with the proper tools and ink. The result is always sharper and longer-lasting than ANYTHING you could do at home. I know it's probably not the answer you wanted, but I'd dish out the $10-ish bucks every time for a pro job. (And if in the future you ever want to wash your flightsuit, this method will stand up to endless washes.)

I'm looking to do my wolf logo on the loincloth, so stencil sounds like a good option. Thanks. :)

Haven't heard of this method before...would a place like Staples be able to do it? Not sure if there's any embroidery shops near me.
And honestly at this point $10 isn't expensive at all, I'd actually have expected it to be more. But I'll definitely check this out, thanks!

Also, any feedback on my flightsuit pants? They seem better to me but the advice of experienced eyes would be much appreciated.

Staples prints t-shirts for about $10. Maybe you could take the cloth into your local branch and ask them about printing a unique garment? I know there are several specialized screen printing shops/embriodery kiosks in my area. Can't hurt to do a google search :)

The pants look much better lengthwise, but you'll want to sew some spats if they start to bunch or bulge under the armor. At least now you're not tripping on them! ;)

The "ears" on the helmet look like they'll be really cool.

I gotta admit though, part of me is a little sad that you've decided not to go with the wolf on the bucket.

I totally would have taken a picture with you of both of us in kit once we were both official. XD

Dusting this thread off now that I've settled back home and have made some progress.

I'll look into that, thanks!
And yep, going to be working on that shortly.

Maybe another bucket one day, to be used should we ever troop together.  :P

Anyway, progress since last update.

Definitely needs a lot of work still but I'm starting to feel like it's really beginning to come together. For attaching the armor I got industrial strength velcro for the plates and sew on for the vest.
