Ordeyn's Scratch Build Gaunts (Pic Heavy)

I'm doing some scratch build gaunts from PVC and what other scraps I have around. I made some custom templates with the help of Arizona Iced Tea cans.












Only the one is cut out so far. I'm going to glue the pieces on.

QUESTION: I've got some JB Stick Weld on hand, but will that be strong enough to hold the pieces on? I will be putting the gaunts on by sliding my hand in.

The JB weld would probably hold pretty well, but I would recommend you go get you some PVC glue. That will pretty much never fail if applied right. If you can find it, get Christy's Red Hot ($5-ish), then you wont need a primer to make it work. I have made an effort to break those bonds and ususally I end up breaking the PVC before the weld fails.

I was thinking of going with a PVC method for approval, then upgrading to Fett style gaunts when tweaking my kit.

You've got some time to get your kit up to muster before you're old enough to join, so concentrate on getting these little bits done! I've seen your kit grow from my early days on TDH, so I'm pretty much expecting your kit to be nigh on smack bang awesome by the time you're ready to apply!

This is the other gaunt. The overlay piece (not the half circle one) is actually two pieces [if you couldn't tell]. I'm going to make them flush and then glue thinner support piece on the back. If it doesn't work, I'll just cut out a new piece from my pipe. It'd be a nice detail to have that line going down the middle of the guant -- not to mention a good place to weather. But, if it is seriously structurally stupid just tell me and I'll cut out a new piece.

I made new cover pieces that are the same. It'll be less hassle overall.

Since I have extra pieces lying around I'm going to put them to use:

I want to put this rounded piece off the elbow.


This is just a detail.

That's all for now. I've got glue, I just need to sand down edges and what not before I start that process.

They look big around my arm, but once the flight suit is on they fit nicely. More greebiling will be done.
