Fem-mando Neo-Crusader (2)
« on: Apr 06, 2012, 04:32 PM »
So I am starting to work on my Neo-Crusader build. I've made the beginnings for a chest plate and a helmet (neither of which I have pictures for yet because I keep forgetting) and so far...so good? As much as I love the original KOTOR build, I thought I would do something slightly different. Is that okay? The main differences are in the thigh armor, and the gauntlets, and somewhat the helmet. Maybe you can see the differences in the thigh armor and gauntlets in this picture.

If you can see it, the elbow of the gauntlets are pointed, and the entire gauntlet is rounder than the original KOTOR build. The thigh armor also comes up relatively high on the hip, and encircles more of the thigh. (There is no shin armor drawn because I didn't get to it yet.)

As for the helmet, there would be some differences with that. The face plate is a little more angular, sticks out a little further, and the visor itself will be wider. Visibility and all, you know.

After looking through a bunch or photos I felt that this one looked most like what I wanted my helmet to look like once it was done...aside from the visor being wider.

Any thoughts?

EDIT: I posted this in the Neo-Crusader forum last night, but I decided to post it here too. Also, I'm going to post photos later of the work I've done so far.

So I have some photos. Finally. Lol.

I still have to do some spot filling on the helmet but it's basically done aside from the cloth part of the helmet which will cover a lot of what is there, and of course painting it.

I've done hardly any work on the breastplate so it looks pretty bad right now. Lol.

Looking good, keep it up!
The armor is simply a manifestation of an impenetrable, unassailable heart.

I didn't use a template. But CyraxLionheart uploaded a pepekura template a couple of days ago. http://mercs.firespray.net/forum/index.php?topic=49484.0

So I haven't posted in a while because I was attending to my wedding plans and getting married. And then me and my husband got new jobs. Lol. But I have been working on it! Basically I just adjusted the front of the helmet. It's not a perfect Neo, but it's close enough for me. And it is now smoothed, painted and polished! I'm going to fix the visor though. It's messed up. Haha.

The breastplate is coming along nicely. I'm in the process of making it perfectly even, and smoothing it. The other pieces are coming along nicely. So far I have only done one of each side, because I was experimenting with how to fit them properly.

Apparently I couldn't flip this one....

Or this one...

But anyway. That's all I got for now. :)

I'm not generally a fan of the older Mando armor... But wow. That helmet/mask looks beautiful. Amazingly smooth paint job on it.

Keep up the great work!

So I pretty much finished the breastplate today. I went for a slightly more battle worn look than I did for the helmet, so some of the edges are roughed up and it's not as smooth in a lot of places, but that's what I was going for. :)

I just have to redo the clear coat because it came out really weird. It was too humid so most of it crackled. Lol.

Shiny. Love the marbled effect of the paint, and that gouge is impressive.
