Modified nightfinder blaster WIP (pic heavy)
« on: Nov 03, 2011, 12:36 AM »
Okay so while i'm waiting for spare funds to start work on my armour, i decided to get to work making my weapons. First cab off the rank is my sidearm. I wanted to make something that looked similar to the Mando heavy blaster from the KOTOR games. I started off with my average, run of the mill Nerf Nightfinder (pics taken after work was started so it looks a bit different from stock).

Gutted the internals except for the trigger and removed the front section and light.

Added the extended barrel. The barrel assembly was made out of a section of steel box tube with a length of pvc electrical conduit through the middle. On the end of the conduit is a stake extension from a garden lamp housing a similar lengthed piece of solid steel tubing.

Cut a length of hollow, thin steel tubing to replicate what will be an ammo cartridge which will slide in place behind the barrel.

After hollowing out where the plunger draw sat in the Nightfinder it's a straight shot through to the back of the barrel where the cartridge slides neatly into place.

More pics to come as work progresses...

That's looking pretty great. When it's done, people will barely be able to tell it was a nightfinder. I'm really liking it vod  ;)

Wow. Good work. I've wanted to start a Mando Heavy Blaster too and that Nightfinder looks like a great base. Can't wait to see more!

Okay, finally did some more work on this pistol. Here's where I'm up to now:

Next job is to wire in a switch for the front torch to near the trigger, then sand, prime and paint :)
