it was Jango's vest that was longer and yes it's perfectly acceptable to have your loin cloth and vest the same piece provided. As long as you seperate the two peices by putting your sash or girth belt and ammo belt over-top you should be fine. Since you're going with a tan kama along with your plates, you need to offset it with a contrasting color. I think you should go with the green instead of grey actually. It looks like you're planning on painting you visor area green, so you might want to consider expanding that color to appear elsewhere in your armor as well, like your gaunts. (ROTJ Boba did the same thing by having red gaunts) It'll help tie in your colors, in my opinion.

There is a MandoMaker image in my WIP: www.goo.gl/WhPpc
But I need to update it to reflect your suggestions.

So if I make a Jango vest and extend it down to look like an exceptional loincloth, I can make it look like 2 pieces by attaching a girth belt over it. This way I can make sure that these 3 pieces do not shift and look weird, and that my loincloth will never look like a towel draped over a belt.

I had already expanded the green by making the girth belt that color. It will both tie in the green around the visor and trick the eye into thinking the vest and loincloth are separate. I also think that this will keep the tan karma from looking like a kilt, since it will be a different color than the belt and loincloth.

As you know the idea of camouflage is to trick the eyes into sending false information to the brain like how silencers trick the ears into sending false information to the brain. Because silencers do not actually silence a gun but make it sound like something else, and camouflage does not make you invisible but makes you look like something else. I know I am stating the obvious, but I've put so much thought into analyzing those facts and applying them to this armor that I wanted to show my reasoning behind every decision here.

Grey is a negative space color so having the flight suit that color will help to keep the eyes from focusing on it at a distance and keeping the brain from recognizing the shape as human. Black is better at this illusion, and that is why it is associated with assassins and others who want to stay hidden. So why grey over black? The same reason that grey has replaced black in newer camo patterns. True black is rare in nature, so that works against it and makes it more noticeable. Therefor having grey as the most dominate color helps the illusion.

I also like your gaunts idea. I may leave the bracer part around the wrist and the gloves tan to keep that color tied in, But you are right and if I make the weapon part of the gaunts green then it will tie that color in too. This should balance everything out and make the flight suit look great.

I got my flight suit. It's more worn than the description, but that will just make weathering easier. It's had at least twice as many previous owners than I had thought, and one wrote their name on the back of the neck. But that's fine because I am redyeing it anyway. Right now I am soaking it in a vinegar bath to strip any residue that could interfere with the dying process. Then I will wash it with dollar store brand "OxiClean" and Borax to neutralize the vinegar. This is the best way that I know of to get the flight suit as clean, residue free, and neutral as I can get it.

I suggest Bren-gun Mag pouches to compensate for not really being able to get to your reguler pockets much. Their roughly the size of a brick(the ones i've got) and an odd sickly tan colour-they remind me of tacos, theres a bit of "mildew" green and the tan is somewhat discoloured near the botoms and the brass the snaps are partialy oxidised-so I may keep them taco colour-but my flightsuite is grey, have you gotany suggestions?

This 92% Meta-Aramid, 5% Para-Aramid, and 3% Conductive Fiber fabric is wanting to be hard to work with. I have removed the permanent marker letters out of it, but I am still trying to lighten the color before dyeing it.

EDIT: "Nomex has excellent thermal, chemical, and radiation resistance." No wonder, well this means WAR against my FLIGHT SUIT!

Yeah a gallon of bleach had no effect. I hit it with a week long vinegar wash, and now it is soaking in a super concentrated RIT Color Remover bath. I'll keep an eye on it and then wash it with Oxyclean and Borax to remove the RIT.

Sorry not you. Some spam bot attacked my thread and posted random keywords with links. A moderator has deleted it. I'd post what it was, but then I'd be spamming myself.

Ever heard of the Three Stooges? They would stand in a line, like how these messages are in line. The one in the middle (in this case the spammer) would say something stupid, and when one of the other people (in this example me) would go to slap the guy in the middle, the guy in the middle would duck down causing the second guy to miss and hit the third guy.

So that was not aimed at you. It was meant for someone that was removed by site staff. Sorry for the confusion.

Ah-good example  :P
2nd spammer I've seen!

Anyways, get any soft-goods progress?      I got an idea for the spiked-tipped boot thingys. Use the 2-part stud/spikes thatyou see on dog chokers, and put thhem through a piece of aluminum or plastic contoured to the front of your boot. You could put a couple....Gyprock screws through that horizontaly into the rubber part of the boot and that should work. I'll be doing  it myself if I can get the studs.

Yeah, it looks like the spammers don't even bother to learn English. It's always random stuff with popular keywords and links. As if anyone is going to risk clicking them?

I am waiting till the next armor party to ask Tom more about the Kama and Loincloth. The next Talon Armor Party is January 14th, the day before my birthday, so I am going to treat myself to some Mando stuff. Also December the 3rd I am catching a ride with someone from Charlotte and someone from Virgina down to the Atlanta Astromech Build Day.

I comisioned Jarek Tal Tracyn to make me one out of several panals of leather sewn together.  The leather is not all of the same "grain" so it looks like it 4was put togetehr from the hide of several beastly mammals. Or porpuses :P     Anyways, if you decide to commision someone to make you one, I would recomend asking Jarek-he makes good quality Kamas at an affordable price. $45 to make it, and $65 i believe it was with shipping.

My Flight Suit looked perfect, but now after a month, it has faded back to it's original color! I have discovered that you should never use Rit Dye nor Rit Dye Fixative. I am going to start experimenting with different products. Any suggestions?
