Speaker Placement / Venting
« on: Jul 10, 2012, 06:43 PM »
Su'cuy Vode.

I have just recently received my voice amps, disassembled, wired with two speakers & I am ready to get these in my buy'ce.  The question is what is the best way to install them?  I am thinking one on each cheek plate towards the ear, but I am not sure how to perforate the cheeks to allow the sound to travel through.

Does anyone have any advice or pics from/of their kits?

Thanks for the advice in advance!   8)

make sure they are not directly against the plastic and you will be fine putting them there, and by that i mean insulate the speaker, one option would to be put foam around the speaker with about a centimeter between the plastic and cheek from the foam is in the foam keeps the speaker off by at least a centimeter i hope that made sense vod :)

Doesn't need to be nearly a cm, a mm is fine as long as the vibrations are nulled.

I drilled out the holes in my borden connector and placed the speaker behind that. You want to make sure that the only direction the sound can get out of the speaker is outside the helmet - so insulate the back of the speaker. Ason talks about the method I taught him in the lastest podcast ;)

I am guessing that would be episode 33?   ;)  Anyway, are the three little holes enough for good sound output?  Since I don't have a borden connector, I was thinking of either very small holes drilled out, or something like vent slots.  I would like to keep the look of the buy'ce the same, but would not be opposed to adding some greeblies to the cheeks for this purpose.

Yeah they are enough. With only one direction for the sound to go, it will all go out the holes ;)

You can do whatever design you like with keeping that in mind.

Which voice amps should I get since I'm paying for everything (I"m still a KID!!) I looked up Amazon and they are PRETTY expensive. What brand do you suggest?

Contact ViciousVestments.  He sells the ones I have for a reasonable price.  They are easy to mod & install.  ;)
