Enodia's Kit WIP (PIC HEAVY)
Enodia Kih'Jehaat:
Ok so I wanted to start a thread so I could start getting some input. I've spent a LOT of time reading the posts in here and going over the trial and error the ladies have been through fitting chest plates. I am basing my kit off Bo Katan, and although it will be very similar, there will be slight modifications. I got my thigh plate template finished last night and the pics aren't that great, took with my phone, but I wanted to toss them up before I start cutting anyway to see what people think!
This is the first template I made. I took the medium sized Boba Fett template and printed it as a base, then I took the Death Watch thigh template and kind of put them together. I had read/heard that the DW thigh was cutting up uncomfortably in the back, so that's why I wanted to use the BF template for a basis on that. I freehanded the size at first, so after this shot was taken I realized how tall it really was, and went back in and scaled it down.
This is what I have finished, and it fits the size I was going for when I wrap the poster board around my leg (while wearing the pants I am using for the soft part.
I know this isn't much to start a thread with, but I wanted to start somewhere and this will encourage me to keep going :D

Looks like a good start to me. :)

Loving the look of the thigh plate and can’t wait to see what you do with the chest pieces! ;)

So definitely not as far as I planned to be by now, but that's ok. At the suggestion of my good friend and future clan mate (I hope) Morust Naast, before I go any further I want to see if my thought process is going to work out to be approvable.
My original concept was to base a decent amount of my kit off of Bo Katan/DW idea's and end up with a more custom looking medic in the end. I ran across a lot of problems with the design of the chest plate, and translating that not only from cartoon to life, but also to fit my body type. This being stated, I used some concept art as well as the episode with Bo Katan to get a basic idea of what her chest plates looked like.
In these you can see the shapes seem to have a much more rigid, hard bend in them. This was what my template was designed to aim for. Unfortunately, along with a few other templates I designed, the card stock copies had a 'death by doggy' issue and I don't have that, only the piece I cut out and have begun to mold, which is why I don't have a pic up of that orig template. When I hit the molding process is where the issues started. Based on my body type, trying to achieve the more 'boxy' look ended in 2 different results. The first being that the if the 'center' angle was bent hard enough, it made me look massive, and secondly if I made the bend less aggressive, the plates just looked over sized, even though the coverage was about the same.
Here is an image of what both plates look like currently. I decided not to go too far into molding both until I knew if I was going to be headed the right direction. neither of them are finished in shaping, and I haven't reduced the inside down to fit the smaller diamond yet.
As you can see I have managed to get the left side to fit pretty snug on the bottom, as this is a more realistic fit and stopped from the 'over sized plate' look I was getting before. I kept the top part more flat to resemble the concept art above.
On the right side, you can see where I start to get some serious gapping issues with the more 'boxy' plate
Bad shot, but them at least held up from the front
Keep in mind please that these are FAR from done! In the next pic I have wonderfully used paint skills to highlight and go over a few areas.
The blue line shows where I will have to cut down to make the correct angles to compliment the collar plate 'Bo Katan' uses. The gaps aimed at by a red arrow (they are on both side) are going to be filled and smoothed out with the rest of the plate (so long as I don't have to scrap the whole thing of course). The green question mark is to show the LACK the the typical wing you see on most chest plates. In the Clone Wars episode, as well as most concept art for Bo Katan, this piece is NOT PRESENT. In the third concept image above you see a female DW chest plate that manages to have this wing, AND the boxy look that I can't obtain. If I need to add this piece as a separate plate (which in theory sounds like it would look pretty rad) to compensate that idea has been tossed around and I am totally open to that.
Totally nervous about posting this, but really looking forward to getting some feedback, idea's, suggestions and the rest!

Also, here is the cod piece I have started. Basing it off the cod used in the show and concept art. However, for mobility purposes I have decided to make mine one solid piece, and intend to paint the 'backing' so it is less noticeable in the end
And here is the start of my thighs, being that was the ONLY thing I have posted until now guess I can show that. Only started to mold one side so far, in which I learned that I didn't have NEARLY enough layers on to compensate for how hot I got the piece :D
