My fiberglass armor
« on: Mar 26, 2012, 09:07 PM »
Ok I had a crazy idea I went to All Con a couple of weeks back and while there I took the duck tape dummy workshop and I had an idea in all my dealings with fiberglass resin and the like it doesn't stick to aluminum foil so well so I thought that I could wrap my DTD (duck tape dummy) with foil lay fiberglass mat over it smear resin over it and see what happens.

If this works out good I'll go into more detail about how I set it up. Any advise or comments are very welcome.

Looks like you're off to a good start.  All else fails, you have a reusable duct tape dummy, and some foil stuck to the back of your armor.

Ok update time I ran out of resin in the middle of the 6th layer

From playing around with the edges that wrap around the side far to the side of the ab plate it looks like it is going to release like I planned but we will find out in a couple of days ill finish the resining tommorrow and I'm going to let it sit for a couple of days just to be sure its as dry as its going to be.
