Sintra adhesive
« on: May 09, 2012, 09:37 PM »
Hey everyone I hope this isn't too noobish of a question, so here it goes. I'm working on my first kit and I'm using 3mm sintra. I'm wanting to make the chest piece more pronounced then the ab plates. My thought process  was to glue 2 pieces of sintra together but I'm not sure what glue/adhesive to use, or if it can even b done. I don't want to have to go get 6mm sintra if I don't have to. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Awesome. the sides that are getting the adhesive attached need to be sanded so the glue will really grip on. Make sure you wash the dust off of them fromt he sanding and let them dry before glueing otherwise theyll pull apart easily. Clamp them tight and let them sit overnight.

Additionally, if you are going to use rivets or Chicago screws on your Legacy plates (as seen in the canon artwork), you can forgo the glue altogether and just just rivet or Chicago screw the plates together.

Also it wouldn't hurt to do a quick (rubbing) alcohol wash to remove some of the stuff left ovrr from when the sintra was made.

Believe it or not, the easiest way, wash the sentra in alcohol, then use testors model cement....is is styrene plastic.... Clamp and leave it over night, then it will be chemically bonded. :)
any place, any time, for a price....
