I did not get a chance to antique them yesterday. I did however paint them and...I'm not entirely happy with it.

and now the problem
The paint on the backplate came out all...spotty? Not sure what the word is but it has this strange texture and I don't care for it

See? should I just sand it off? How do I keep that from happening? Thoughts?

Sanding it is going to be tons of fun lol... alot of detail work to get through and around.

As for getting the color you're after without worrying about paint issues, try rub n buff. It comes in a variety of metallic colors... gold, bronze, copper, silver, etc etc. You can pick it up at most craft and hobby stores or ebay.
