TK3181's Deathwatch Armor
« on: Oct 15, 2011, 11:05 PM »

I have been making a quite a bit of progress on my Season 2 Pre Vizsla Kit. Here are some of the steps along the way:

PVC Chest armor plates that I mounted on plaster and wood bases to make my vac molds. (Many thanks to Praetor Ordo over at TDH for the templates!)-

PVC Knee plates (rough cut and formed)

A Finished upper set. (Still working on the backplate)

My set in Paint:

Here is a shot of my armor from this last weekend. Some parts are weathered, others are ready for weathering. You can see my Gauntlets here. They are 1/8" ABS! I cannot wait to get them assembled and painted!!

More Weathering and some of the shoulder emblem painted:

I plan on trying to pull my back plate tomorrow evening.

I got the first successful pull of the backplate made as well as some more painting of details. Here are some pics of the progress:

Back pulled and trimmed:

Comparison to a Boba fiberglass back plate:

With the other parts:

Shoulder plate emblem ready for distressing:

Gauntlets and handplates:

Plates and back:

I have the masters for the knee plates all worked out, just need to construct the mold bases. Next are the thigh plates and their holsters. After that, the boot plates... and the Jetpack!

Progress feels good.   :)

Thanks guys! It means a lot to hear praise from you all.

We are working out some glitches with the Vac Table right now. (Vacuum Leak!) Anyway, hopefully that'll give me some time to get the final molds finished. Once I have all the molds ready and our vacuum bugs are all worked out, I'd love to do an ongoing thread for this armor. It's cool to see that interest is out there.  :)

Made a little more progress. I have the thigh plate molds started and the holsters as well. There are a couple of adjustments I need to make and then break out the 1/8" ABS and add some pieces to my kit.

I found a suitable set of coveralls in a charcoal color that I think will work. I was going to sew up my own, but it seems cheaper to buy the coveralls and alter them. (I can't even buy the fabric for what these cost!)
