Yea, been working on it on and off for 3ish years, it's about 96% done, just need a better girth belt and holsters and a few greeblies to complete it :)

*edit* Posted an old pic of it in the 3rd post in this thread. I'll try and find a newer one.

*edit* Here is a pic from october last year at Auckland Armageddon, with some of the Outpost 42 guys (NZ garrison of 501st)

It is entirely scratch built by me.

That's a pretty sweet Jango you got going there.

Okay, it's been a while but over the last week I have had quite a bit of spare time so have spent a bit of it working on this. The shins have now been cut out and shaped, then reshaped as I wasn't happy with them. Now I am happy with the shape of them though so they have had a coat of primer.

The shoulder bases, biceps and neck pieces have also had a coat of primer

The gauntlets are progressing, the detailing has begun on the left crushgaunt, and the right gauntlet (lying in the background on the right) is the same shape but will not have any of the raised detailing that the left does.

The plan is to wrap this in black leather/pleather, so that it blends into the leather glove better, then these details will go on top of the leather/pleather.

Also I have made the secondary parts for the gauntlets and shoulders, I have still not finalised how these will be attached, but they will not be attached until after painting so no big rush to sort it out. As I type these and the gauntlets have just had a coat of bondo to conceal the seams and soon I will go out and sand it all up nicely :)

And finally, I have begun work on the bucket, it is made from 1.5mm cardstock, and has now been fully fibreglassed internally, it just needs a coat of resin on the outside to seal the cardboard, then it will be ready for bog.

That's all  for now but hopefully I will have more progress in the next day or two.

Cheers :)

Okay so I got a bit of work done yesterday, the helmet had it's final coat of fiberglass, and first coat of bog.

(Sorry about the cruddy pic)

When I made it I used the WOF templates, and added about an inch to the length as I wanted a sleeker elongated visor, however this resulted in it being too long when worn, so I cut about 10mm of the bottom of the visor, half an inch of the back of it, and tapered the cheeks tetween the two.

I also started working on the knee armour, In my original concept I had the knee armour attached to the right shin. I decided to swap the side this was on to the left leg, and make some small fairly minimal plating for the right knee so here is what I've got.

Left knee

Right knee

I also did a bit of painting on some of the other pieces, no pics of those yet though.

I am going away for the next ~2 1/2 weeks so unfortunately there won't be a lot of progress in that time, but when I get back I hope to get quite a bit done before my work load for the semester starts to pick up.

I really like your shins, they turned out great! 8)
Are they just shaped sintra? (I need to make a similar style for a costume.)

Haha yea that's what a palm sander is for isn't it :) But in all honesty, it looks alot worse in the pics than in real life, it shouldn't take much to take down the high points with a file to smooth it out quite a bit. This time I'll try and take some pics in natural light so the camera flash doesn't wash it out.

Thank you, yes they are just 6mm sintra that I have heated and shaped. By heating the area around the ankle lots I was able to get it to flare out all around which was the hardest part of getting that shape.

Just got home late last night from trooping at a con with the 501st, and I have a day or 2 at home before leaving again for a week and a half so will really be trying to get some work on this cranked out before I leave again.

Cheers bro!

Made a bit of progress of late, mainly on the helmet and crush gaunt so here are some pics.
First up the helmet, more bog, sand, bog, etc I'm sure you know how it goes.

I am very pleased with how the crush gaunt is coming along. It is not quite finished yet but is close. The base has been wrapped in grey/black pleather and the details have all been painted up and just need to be finally glued on now.
Primered (with secondary piece sitting in place)

Details painted gold

That's it for now. Progress will continue to move along bit by bit when I have the chance to work on it.

Why thank you :)

Today I got a bit done. The base of the crushgaunt has now been fully assembled and glued, and all the other pieces have now had a couple of coats of silver.

Here they all are lain out prior to being painted silver

And afterwards with some of the other pieces

I have also cut out the hand and finger plates for the crushgaunt

These are the gloves I will be using

And with the crushgaunt and glove in its current stage (the secondary piece was temporarily attached for this pic)

And here is a pic of one of the pouches I will be using

I have 5 of these, the picture makes it look a little bit green but it is black in person.

I have just finished putting another coat of bog on the helmet and am about to start creating the templates for the back armour, which is something I have been putting off for a while now. This weekend I will hopefully get some boots, at which point I will start working on the boot armour too.
