Arashi's first helmet - WIP (updated 8/26)

So, since M-DSB is shut down until further notice, I opted to order one of Asok's FettPride buckets.  It arrived today and looks great.  I still need to trim and clean it up, paint it, etc.  But here it is right out of the box.



I plan to fill in the Boba dent, and give it a custom paint job to match my armor.  I'll keep you all posted on my progress.

That looks good! What's the size like?

It's a 1:1 scale helmet, cold cast resin outer layer with a couple layers of basic white resin inside.  I can get my head inside with my glasses on if I angle it right to get them past the cheeks.

Now...I just need to decide what color I want to paint the face of it.  The rest of my armor is black with molten color highlights, so I was thinking about yellow in the very front, fading through orange, to red, then black towards the back.  I'll have to see what I can come up with.

Got the bottom trimmed and sanded, and the visor cut out (except a small space at the bottom to keep it nice and solid while I work on it.



I gotta say...cutting and sanding resin sure does make a TON of fine dust...I was covered from head to toe in the stuff by the time I got this much done.  I also did some light sanding with fine sandpaper to bring out some of the cold cast shine.

Looks good  bud what colors do you plan to paint it?

Its going to have the same molten lava color scheme as my armor...primarily black, with red/orange/yellow gradients.  Check out my armor thread for how it is progressing.

Bondo sanded mostly smooth, gave it a quick coat of gold base metal color to check for uneven spots, still need to do a little work over the bondo area.

I have a ASOK Jango cold cast mold, it's great and easy to paint. I agree, about the dust, cutting it made a TON of it.

Got it sanded to where I am happy with it and began the layered painting process I used for my armor.









Next step will be weathering, depending on how that turns out I may mask off sections and do more painting.  I will keep you all posted.

Got the preliminary weathering done, I'm really liking how it came out so far.  What do you all think?

It looks really good, vod.  You covered the dent wonderfully.  At first I wasn't sure about the paint scheme, but it has a really neat effect to it.  Keep up the good work.
