Are these shin guards passable?

I just finished painting my knee/shin guards..will they pass muster?

Those look like catcher's pads, if they are... They won't pass... No sports pad will... Sorry.

You would have to cover them completely.

The knee pads on those are the same pads I tried to use on mine and I got denied as well just for the knees.    They do look good though with that paint job, they would almost match my kit.

In order fdor them to pass under the Mara Jade Clause (loophole)... the style must be very similar to those worn by the LFL actress. Also, they cannot have the foot pads on them. I personally do not feel that style is similar enough hence, they would require mods pursuant to all sports and real world armor/pads.

"The black knee pads and shin guards are made of a rigid material such as plastic or fiberglass. The knee pads are oval in shape. The shin guards extend from the knee to the ankle, with black padding worn underneath. The shin guards are worn over the boots and should be appropriately sized for the costumer. The shin and knee guards may be custom sculpted to match the designs used in the comics, or they may be based on the police style shin and knee pads used in the Decipher image of Mara." (Emphasis added by me)
The Decipher picture clearly shows that she used Damascus Riot Gear for her kit. The Foot covers are removable (velcro) and I kinda wanted to anyway (they look kinda stupid imho)  So that being said, What modifications, if any, would I need to get these to be acceptable...

Mara Jade's CRL doesn't apply to the Mandalorian Mercs. Although the Mara style are no longer available for sale, there are style visually similar, those are what we would need here.

These wont pass under the Mara Jade Clause. To pass reqgular CRL's, they must be so modified as to no longer be recognizable for their original use.

We actually just had an app come in with a style much like these and it was unanimously voted that they were not similar enough to pass under the clause.

These were my pads that were not excepted, same knees so I just went  back to my original knee pads.

Fair enough. I am learning as I go, so I will gladly bow to the wisdom and experience of others!
So what mods could I make to these through sculpting or alteration, that I could make them approve-able?

You could lose the boot and knee pads.  Then take the hard shin armor off the padded backing, fill in the holes and mold in a raised center part that runs the length of the shin.

That should mod it up enough, but by the time you do all that then you might as well build something from scratch and use these for some other non-Mercs costume.
