Shaping Metal Female Armor
« on: Jun 27, 2011, 10:41 PM »
Hi everyone. I have no experience with shaping metal, and I have an awesome set of K'raam Xrati's armor, which is male-style. I would like it to be slightly curved, although I don't want actual 'boob plates'. Can someone outline the basic steps required to reshape metal armor? I'll be going to an armor party soon and hopefully I'll be able to get some help there, but for now, I'd like to know how it can be done.

Thanks!

Bending or adding a curve in metal armor for a more feminine look is usually something you want to start in the templating process. Starting with purely male plates won't produce the best results. However, if you're just going for a very subtle bend, rather than curve, I would suggest literally just bracing the plate in a vice and pushing gently to the desired shape.

I agree totally with Vhe.  If your going for something contoured, then that has to start with the pattern.  Straight edges won't work when your trying to add a complex curve, you'll end up with something extremely painful in the end.

Thanks for all the input, everyone. I'll give Vhe's advice a shot, and if I can't make it work, I may just replace the two chest plates, because all the other parts fit wonderfully.
