Legacy vest?

Did a little trolling and couldn't find a definite answer to this question: do heavy legacy builds require a flak vest? My plan is to have the chest and abs and back plate meet on the sides kind of like tk armor, and have the shoulder pads attatched to the chest/ back piece as well. Since the vest is just there to mount the plates on, and my plates will be stand alone either way, is a vest required or can i just run the plates on top of my flight suit and neck seal?


Flight suit, neck seal, and vest if required will be black plates will be white and navy.

This links to the legacy era reference pics. They show what appears to be a vest between the sides of the ab and back plates.

Yeah, i have that issue, and what confuses me is some pictures show clearly that there is a vest and a gap between the plates, and some frames show the ab/chest plate overlapping, or at least butting up together with no vest underneath, and i couldn't find any crl reqirements for legacy so i figured i'd ask.

Legacy falls under Modern and a vest is required, as it is seen in the references.

Instead of posting a new thread I also have a question. What is the best thing to use for legacy vest?

I use a standard Fett style vest with modfied shoulders. Instead of the larger Fett shoulders for the plate to ride on, mine has just a thin strap that my shoulder bells are attached to.

That's my plan as well. but the straps will attach to the armor instead of the vest.
