Da Heavacy WIP - Making a heavy legacy kit
« on: Jul 23, 2012, 07:01 PM »
This is the WIP for a (in theory) Heavy Legacy mando kit i'd like to build and get official and is right now in its planning stages. The following are just basic drawings with some ideas/thoughts next to them. Followed by some paper roughs... and more drawings  ;D

Right now i'm doing some of them in paper to get a better visual of the ideas, the armor (however it ends up going) will be built with sintra

Looks great! There was a kit being built a few years ago which had the 'spine' look. I think it was being done by Pheonix023 (IIRC). Might look into it as she had some cool ideas going in her thread (if it's still around).

There was one guy who had the spine plates in his concept, I have images on my computer but can't find the source for it.....

This is one of the gaunt paper rough's that I made at the Armoar Partah

The idea is to have a streamlined look for the plates, with the cutout being the nozzle area for greeblies etc. Plates like this would be mounted to a gaunt probably of pvc or some such. They are also going to be quite a bit thicker, so mainly this is for basic aesthetic.

The only thing I would caution when making them is making sure they fit your arm and dont cut into it all the way through making the plates.

Otherwise, like I said at the Armoar Partah, I like it! XD

Just because I'm bored, I started to rough out the shoulder... I think I made it a bit too thin width wise, and the spacing is a bit off but it is literally a hack with scissors and staple (and duct tape)

Not sure if it flairs a bit too much, but it needs to slightly for movement and so it doesnt look like one piece of armor just steppe'd

I think it flairs just right. Others who have made kits like yours would know better, but just by looking at it I see no problem.

The shoulders in paper didn't quite turn out the way I had hoped, mostly because they aren't formed and I messed up my original idea, the following is more what it should look like (in theory)

More coverage and a slightly more block like structure, besides having correct "hinge" spots.

The second was an idea for the gauntlet attachment, since I wanted to have a larger layered portion for the majority of the top of the gaunt, this could separate the base area for the connection of the heavier armor and the area where you take it off

This is the basic layout for the plates, again out of paper. They look uber small to me -_- but hopefully will not look puny when all is said and done.

The layout of the stomach if at all possible i'd like to keep, but I'm not sure if I should extend them out to be equal to the chest, or take the sides of the chest in to make it all more equal (personally I sort of like the indent) Really much more to the chest is going to have to wait for me to get my vest all made etc.
