looks good, very nicely done. but, as Kel said, add some extra scratches round the bottom of your helmet. weathering needs to look natural. think about what areas take the most wear and tear and handled the most. then apply your weathering to those areas.  ;)

Looking great, and you can never go wrong with too much weathering  :D
Looking forward to seeing it all together.

Looking really good man!

If you want to mute down some of the white and give it a little more "grit", then take a look at my painting/weathering tutorial on the wiki.  Just scroll down to the paragraph on carbon dusting.

Thanks, Novall. I'll have to do a little of that.

Here is a question. I was just sitting here contemplating how I am going to attach my plates to my vest. I have some velcro that I have sized and laid out. I am going to sew it to the cloth side but I don't know about the plastic side. I tried Gorilla super glue and regular super glue and neither of them bonded very well. I'm about to hit it with some hot glue but I'm not sure how well that is going to hold in the long run.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can more permanently attach the velcro to the plastic plates?

Hot glue won't do the job in the long run. Your best bet is to go out and buy industrial strength adhesive back velcro, and use the hook (rough) side on the armor, with the loop (soft) side of the sew-on velcro sewed to the vest.

Ben: What do we do now? Lob a baradium missile at it?
Luke: Do we have a baradium missile?
Ben: Sorry, Uncle Han said it was always a good idea to have one--
Luke: Your uncle isn't a jedi. I wish you'd remember that.

It's been over 8 moths since I did anything on getting this done, but here I am! I have to get it done and become an official member by August. Can't go to CVI without being official, now can i?!
I got ahold of the ol' heat gun and did some re-shaping. The back pieces are the most dramatic change. It now conforms to my back. I have a vest but I am going to be completely remaking it. I found a better design now I just have to get some fabric.

I need to completely repaint the shins and get some industrial velcro and then get everything mounted.

I also got some kevlar lined leather gloves for super cheap. They are the best I've found yet!

So that's where I am. More to come soon!

Hope you add some gold to the shins when you repaint. Looks odd for them to be the only pieces without gold.

OK I know this isn't a real fitting but here are my plates taped onto the temporary vest on my duct tape torso. This is only a test!

I need to get velcro and remake the vest for it to actually look right and to be able to really fit it onto myself.

Vod, your color scheme balances perfectly! That's really well done. And the real reason for this post: those backplates are SICK! :D

Backplate styling is nice, though I would recommend adding two plates on the lowest portion on either side of the small plate.

Reason is, you're leaving vital organs wide open to be shot or stabbed there. (Specifically for us humans, the kidneys)

Kiel'ani: thanks!

Thaxos: I hadn't even thought about that! Wow. Thanks for the catch! I shall have to remedy that.

This is a very nice looking kit, the more I look at it the more I like it. Great job! I had trouble with velcro for my vest, and I went with the snap-on route. This of course is a real pain in the shebs, but I never have to worry about the creaking of velcro as I take a seat or twist my torso in a way that pulls the material. Regardless, I'm very excited to see this one finished!
