I purchased one of Falin Skirata's helmet's and started work today on it: Here's how far I got today.


Got the visor cut out:



I'll epoxy this | and begin painting tomorrow:

It slipped from my hands due to the dust build-up from four inches above the ground! Major bummer!!!

I'll continue to update this as well as my complete armor WIP (listed below) as I get more done.

That's a bummer but I know it'll be awesome when it is done. That is one smexy helmet.

Oh no! That sucks! It must have landed just right. Ive knocked mine around so many times messing with it the last couple days. I actually knocked it off the work table in my garage and it fell just over 3 feet onto the dome, it bounced... I squealed.. but good.

Epoxy it up, make sure you go an inch or two wider on the inside, sand it up good first then bondo and smooth the seam and youre back in business.

I use a fibercutting wheel to cut it and a fine drill bit for the edges of the T.

Mine's almost finsihed. Ill be putting up finished or near finished pix tonight.

Long day at work, slow day of progress on armor and buy'ce.

I was able to cut out a visor.  Ended up using the plastic-glass from a poster frame.  I got four templates cut (so I can allow some to be broken during test fitting) and one broke promptly. No worries though. I have some trimming to do, but did find one that should do the trick nicely.  Now I just need to get to Wal-Mart and buy some epoxy and wondow tinting.  (Hopefully they'll have some green or tan)! I also raided the supply closet (AKA my basement) and found some spare helmet liner pads that should velcro into the helmet easily.

Yes, I know it's still clear and therefore a bit difficult to see, but I'll finish trimming it tomorrow and add the tinting on so I can attach it on Thursday.

I'll definately hit up Wal-Mart tomorrow to get the last two items and begin painting the helmet tomorrow. Hopefully I will be able to say it's done Thursday so I can spend Friday putting finishing touches on the entire kit.

LOL, thanks. Of course, Ive had a little practice... it;s only about the 30th or so helmet Ive painted!

I'm sure.  How do you attach your visor? And for fitting purposes, can we get a pic of yours with you wearing it?

I prefer hot glue. It's flexible yet strong, not effected by cold or even high heat (at least as high as a human can stand), goes on easy and quick and if you ever need to remove the visor you just rub the egdes of the glue with a cotton swab soaked in rubbing alcohol and it pops right out with no fight or damage.
