where did you get those pads?

They look like acquired military surplus lol.

That is a fact. They are indeed military helmet (kevlar) pads.  Most surplus stores will carry these for $5 - $15, depending on new/used status, age and type.

Here's where it's at today.  Got a lot done.  Visor's ready to be installed and I've got two coats of paint on the helmet (after fixing the crack).  Seems sturdy as a rock, again. (Just like my head, hooray)!

So, here's some pictures for you, visor then helmet.  I think I'm going to end up putting the edge around the visor tan like Falin did (a tan color to match my green/tan motif).

Not too bad for a first-time tinter!

I'll post more tomorrow after I've finished painting and attached the visor and pads. (Probably won't get to weathering until Friday, though).

Well, inside of a kevlar helmet they work GREAT!! We'll see tonight how well they'll velcro, glue or expoy into this helmet.  I'm hoping velcro, soas to be able to adjust on the fly as necessary.  But i'll definately be posting (probably late) tonight to let everyone know how it all works for me.

See Falin, I told you it might look a lot like yours.

The pads are awesome. I'm using the wrap-around also to fill out the helmet and it's a perfect fit. Going to bed now.

Yes, I will be putting at least one, if not both, earcaps and rangefinders on.  I just didn't have time to do so before PCC. It worked well for the con. Definately needs some more work. (Mosty greeblies)

I've decided to do a lot of work to the helmet. I'm going to trim the bottom a bit so it looks more like the reference pics, about an inch higher in the back and a bit more of a pointed chin. And along with the ears and RFs I'm going to paint it some more. Going to extend the tan around the dome in a circle and maybe add a broken stripe down the middle from the visor on back. Probably going to end up with one or the other of the additional paint jobs, but either will help it look more canon. I'm also going to add a voice amplifier. Seeing Ajax Kaal's at PCC made me very green with envy, and my armor's already quite green. Haha, I crack myself up. Get it, green!?! Anywho, as soon as I get some more pieces and make time to do some of these adjustments I'll post some more. Don't expect much for a week or so though.

So I've taped off the bottom to where I think I want to cut it. If these pictures aren't sufficient enough to create opinions, let me know what angles will work better, and I'll take those pictures to post up here. Before I cut it, do you guys think this will be effective? I just don't want to cut it without somebody else's opinion because I can't put it back after cutting it.

That looks really similar to where I trimmed mine. Go ahead and trim there, I dont think it will cause a "too much gone" problem. If you think more needs to go you can always go from there.
