Xasha WIP (image heavy) **Geekfest* pics pg 18**
« on: Feb 05, 2011, 04:50 AM »
So my friend and I have decided to try and get a kit together in time for Wizard con in Austin this year (key word there is try lol)  This is the design I plan on using...maybe...probably...I change my mind a lot. (Please ignore the horrible art made worse by using a cell phone to take a picture of it  :P )

I havent settled on a color scheme yet I was thinking of either blue and silver or maybe a burt orange and red.

Edit: Ok I decided on a color scheme I wanted to have a medic so I decided to go with silver and blue that way the red medic cross would really stand out

Aside from the vials of bacta and stuff would like to have my other 'medical supplies' be real items you might find in a first aid kit...just made to look...star warsy

It's amazing what coloring in a design can do. LOL Looks great I'm loving it. Might wanna check out the Medical Brigade section, they have alot of great ideas going on over there if you haven't already. Plus they have some do's and don't on real world medical gear.

Loving it!

My only thing is the redundant medic sign on the belt buckle-  I think the stylized one on the chest is sufficient, but that's just me.

Wow, those colors and designs go extremely well together, and in such an unconventional way. I definitely want to see this costume built.

Thanks ^_^. Ya I've been poking around over there and got lots of great ideas I haven't had the time yet to sit down and really dig into some of the topics but I definatly will.

Thanks. Well since we're both paying our way through college at the moment we are trying to put together something that is reasonably inexpensive but looks good. I saw a few people here did their kit with those plastic  tote containers so we figured we'd give that a try and see how it goes.

Loving it!

Made a cardboard mock up of my armor tonight to see how everything fit together....

,,,the only tape I could find was utter doodie it kept breaking...hence the reason I'm wrapped up like a mummy and the knee and shin plates don't touch...the tape broke.

I think your chest pieces need to be a bit bigger, there's too much open space between them, and possibly making your collar piece a little larger as well so the two more closely match your design sketch. Other than that I think it looks good.  ;)

Totally agree with Segutai. The space between the two chest plates could work with a diamond filling it, but you'd still need to enlargen the collar. Good start though!

I think your design concept is great but, as the other two said, the gaos in the torso armor are too large. The chest plates need to be closer to the gorget and each other.

haha, mummy mando!
i agree with the others, about the to much space inbetween the breast plates, although, that might just look that way becuase of that shirt....  The Ab plates looks like it could move up a litttle also.
But ya, deffinatly make the breast plates a little bit wider so that there is not so much showing, then, add a diamond  ;)

Thanks for all the advice :)

So ya the chest plates were definatly too far apart so I made them wider and made the collar piece bigger as well to get rid of a lot of the empty space. And moved the ab plate up a bit. I look like a mummy again because I am determined to use up this crappy tape lol.
