Chro's Gaunts, now iPod compatible and less shooty.
Ordo Skirata:
Yes it is against CRL's. The thing is that no where in the Star Wars universe anything like this. While it is supposed to be a futuristic saga, everything was of a 70's time frame technology. We as a culture have already surpassed some of the tech in the Star Wars universe.
Chro:
I thought Dash Rendar had something like a video comlink on his wrist. Besides, I think this is very close to a datapad and that it's better looking than just pulling out an ipod to check something.
sgtski:
CRL or not, I think its pretty awesome. Maybe make another gauntlet base and wear this one at conventions.
Pointoforigin:
It is a CRL issue - any modern technology that's easily recognisable is disallowed. It must look like 70's tech. There's no plasma touch screens in Star Wars.
This is Dash Rendar's wrist comlink, as Wookiepedia represents it. Despite the display screen, you can clearly see chunky buttons and knobs to control it. It DOES look Swarzy.
So what you could do to make this work, is build in some chunky looking buttons on either side. Make it look deliberately 70's tech, just with a larger screen in the middle. There's definitely display screens in Star Wars, some chunky buttons would make it fit I think. I certainly hope that would make it passable, because I'd love to do this.

I was thinking of a Predator style gauntlet screen, but I couldnt fine any kind of light-up screen that would work with it. So I bought a light-up watch, took ou the illuminating ring and stuck the clear housing and lluminator onto what I was going to use as teh screen. I cut up a TV remote to fit onto the left gauntlet, so It has a stream-lined look.
I'll probably start a quick thread about my gauntlets sometime, I think I can post a ms paint version of somekind today to show you what I meen.
