Wow! Love the sculpt. You've really done amazing with this. As far as adding the seams, I'd say no. I think keeping it simpler is better. As for your planned paint...looks great, but I agree not so dark.

WOW
This buy'ce has turned out awesome! If you keep this up you'll have one of the most kandosii kits out there! I like the way its not symetrical but just close enough to it to add a level of realism, and as for the seam, I wouldn't do it. I think adding some pockmarks and imperfections would work great for the bone look but I think the seam would take away from the helmet.
All in all, this is an awesome helmet, I'll be following this thread for sure

I love it, this is going to be pure win. I actually like the seams in a way, for the Era. The earliest Mandalorians, tha Tuang, prior to mastering beskar, typically used calcified mythosaur bone for their armor and weapons. so giveing the seams would add to the bone look.

I know people have mentioned you should cast and sell these. And, while Im sure there would be some market and you might make a few bucks doing it (you dont get rich selling props lol), I think it would cheapen your bucket in a way. One cool and special thing about the early and late Crusader Mando's is they were all individual. With the exception of the T visor and sigils they didnt look the same. Their helmets were different, their armor was different etc. If you did a run of 10 or 20 it would still be a fairly "rare" piece. However, if you should up at an event and there were 2 or 3 or 4 of these same helmets there it would, at least to the hardcore EU fans, reduce the meaning of the helmet some. This is a beautiful piece that is a product or your style and labor.

That is looking really cool!  I'm glad to see someone making the attempt at one of these guys because I always liked the look.

I've even thought about trying but I just have too much on my plate.  I'm really looking forward to this build.

Thanks for the great comments guys! Added some pockmarks today and still deciding on the skull seams.

Thanks A'den, I admit, I do like the idea of my helmet being a "one of a kind".  8)

So here’s what I have so far in the paint department. And please give me your honest opinions, cause when I look at it, it just doesn’t scream bone to me? (but I tend to be pretty harsh on myself with my own work) Maybe you can all point out to me what it’s lacking?

Not sure if I should add more darker areas like what’s over the left eye (when looking at it)

Also not sure when I finally seal this if I should go with a matte or a satin? Some bone has a bit of sheen to it but older bone doesn’t really.

And if anybody’s curious as to what I used for paint - Base coat was Rust-oleum painter’s touch ultra cover satin in heirloom white, then for adding the texture I used folk art acrylic paint- burnt umber, raw umber, cinnamon, and titanium white.

I would use a "Dab and wipe" method with maybe some Terra Cotta color, and maybe some charcoal dust, just to add some grim around the low areas.

It is looking great!

I actually used Stormtrooperguy's technique of watering down the paint with window cleaner, then did the "dab and wipe" on top of that to darken certain areas. Yeah I actually intended on using some Terra Cotta but I was out of it here at the house, I'll definitely run out and grab some. And I've got some charcoal from the kids kits that I will use once the paint is complete, Thanks Spanner.  :)
