Looks great Fyr! But, I can't take credit for the door slide holster idea, that ingenious creation belongs solely to Ohl'd Vart. It's the coolest holster ever tho isn't it!? 8) I love mine!

My thanks to Ohl'd Vart, then. But I didn't see his design, I saw yours, so you get credit for MY inspiration. I modified the design to try and make it more in-galaxy. The original keyhole shape is immediately recognisable as a door slide, I hope that the rounded edges and teardrop shape I ground in the slot makes it less... Doorslide-y. Because I've fastened it to a leather backing, I also drilled an extra hole in the center of each side to put an extra rivet in. What do you think of the resulting look?

So I've been helping a few people out by answering questions about my build for their own Crusaders and I thought this particular bit might be helpful to others as well.

My "Bondo Sculpting"

Step One: After you have your base piece ready sketch out your finished design as a guide.

Step Two: "Bondo Sculpting" As you can see, you don't want to put it on all pretty like.

Step Three: Sand. Once this has been done, you can see by putting the Bondo on a little sloppy it will give you a very organic end result.

Step Four: Add a bit more Bondo if needed. It's best to build up areas gradually then try to slap it all on at once.

Step Five: Sand again. (And continue to repeat step four and five till you get your desired result.)

Step Six: Don't forget to check the side views to make sure you get the desired dimension.

Hope that helps. ;)

I use a plastic artist palette knife found at most craft and hobby stores for $0.99. Great for details and getting into small areas. And I reuse them over and over again too, just wipe the Bondo off with a paper towel and it's ready for next time.

Just read through this entire thing again, and got all the same feels. You've gone from nothing, to epicness, to becoming Ruus'alor on your first day of being official, to Personell Officer in this club. And I got to meet this lady at C6 and oogle this epic costume! Awww yeahhh. This is a journey that's not over yet but has so much to inspire others in it.
