You probably said it, but I missed it. Did you cut this from a Sterilite tote bin? It's too late now, but for the future, I've found that the Krylon Fusion for Plastic Hammered Metal is the best as a primer coat. I did that to my son's armor over a year ago and it has yet to start peeling.

Other than that, I think it looks good so far! the pealing will actually work with the weathering.

David.

4mm Sintra, actually!
I'm using all Krylon Fusion paints anyway. Ya'll are already a good influence in that area.

Aha. Then yes, definitely rough it up a little in the future. Not too much, just a 150 grit will suffice.

Thanks again, and I did on everything else, after the pauldrons. Just got ahead of myself and sprayed them without thinking. LOL

Ok, so I finally got the requisite sanding blocks and paper, and I'm going to be doing a lot of painting this week...

But in the meantime, here's what I drew up!
And actually, ignore two of the shoulder bells, they already have my initials on them.

Whadaya think?

I'd probably eventually work my way back around to Facebook, but might as well comment here where I have more room for words :D. I kind of feel like you have too much going on there, what with the streaks up the left side (right of the pic) and the star thingy-thing on the cod, ab, chest and collar.

I'd either lose the stars on the cod and ab and keep the ones on the chest and collar, or else make one continuous design that travels along all of the plates. If you go with the latter, it'd probably be best to reduce the number of stripes on the left side, down to two or three. The rules I like to go with when it comes to armor designs are 'less is more', as well as the KISS concept.

Also, something to keep in mind; unless you go with a Boba style cod (the which is quite uncomfortable and difficult to sit down in) chances are there won't be enough space for the stripes to line up down the chest and ab and into the cod.

Ben: What do we do now? Lob a baradium missile at it?
Luke: Do we have a baradium missile?
Ben: Sorry, Uncle Han said it was always a good idea to have one--
Luke: Your uncle isn't a jedi. I wish you'd remember that.

To all of that:
Yup.  8)

I was doodling at school, but come to looking at my armor, and I see immediately that the cod thing won't work.
I'll probably use the stripes, but in a different iteration, and wider.

Giggity.

Fascinating...I like it, personally.  The color scheme is great, and the design is pretty clever. I say go for it!

This might help with attaching your cod.  It did with mine.

 http://mercs.firespray.net/forum/index.php?topic=7796.0

The tutorial is from Kraam Xrati, who also made my cod out of metal.  There's some pictures of one of his works below, so you can see what the finished product looks like.

I have 3 snaps on a belt. My entire belt is covered so the color does not matter. If your belt would be exposed, you would need a nicer belt.

here is the backside.

Basically the same idea on mine, but I use chicago screws and a leather belt. With my brothers kit because he's a bigger guy and the special vest I had designed for him, I just put velcrow on the top of the cod and attached that to the underside of the vest.
I can dig up some pics if they would be helpful.

Have a good one,
Hagen

My very first cod, I sewed a sort of 'sleeve' for a belt, with velcro on it that stuck to the plate.

For the most recent two, I just cut slots along the top left and right edge and threaded a belt through them for one. The other, I did the same, but used nylons strapping, fed one end through one slot and sewed it down, then sewed velcro to the other end so I could slide it through the other slot and velcro it to itself.
Not the best pic of the slots, but all I have at the moment. You can see enough to get the picture, no pun intended ;).

With both, I sewed velcro to the crotch of my pants, and stuck corresponding adhesive-back velcro to the cod piece.
