Okay, so I finally got around to taking new pictures after reshaping the plate. I also realized that part of the issue last time may have been the bagginess of my vest so I tightened it down with a belt (not the one I will actually be using in my kit). Ignoring the pencil markings on the vest and keeping in mind that the tape kept slipping so they might not have stayed where they were at first (such as in the second picture) , how am I looking on sizing, shaping, and spacing?

they look like they need trimming down the sides. they need to be about the same width as the collarplate. but they look wide on you as you look to be of a slim frame.

Okay, the collar plate has successfully been velcroed to the vest and the basic placement of the other plates has been retraced.

Hopefully the rest of the plates should be finished up and attached soon.

Thanks! :) No velcro on them yet, but I painted up my other plates today. I need to touch up the paint a bit still. Some areas unintentionally peeled off when I took the rubber cement and tape off, so they'll have to be redone. Beyond that I need to do some topical weathering so I don't have as much of the "leopard spot weathering" going on, and also add some grime and dirt so it doesn't look so preplanned.

(And yes, there will be a chest diamond, in case anyone was wondering. I just haven't cut it out yet...)

Thanks guys!  :)
Just out of curiosity, does anyone have an opinion on the best glue for attaching velcro to a plastic armor plate? The adhesive strips work great, but I have to use the sewable kind for the vest, so I'm left with mismatched pairs of adhesive and sew on velcro after I'm done if I combine the two. I guess this isn't a big deal, but it bugs me, so if I can just glue the other sew on strip to the plate, I won't have to worry about it.

not looking bad gov'na.

My ruus'alor has this paint scheme but where you have green, its red. So its cool to see it in another color.

And all of the torso plate velcro is finally on! :)  I'll post pics later tonight or tomorrow.

I've got some concrete plans for the rest of the kit as well. I'm going to have a dark red sash under the belt, and I still need to dye my flight suit black. My right shoulder will be black and the left will bear a green mythosaur skull (potentially my clan logo at some point). It's going to be a light kit, so in terms of armor, I still need knees, a cod, gaunts, and a back plate. As for weapons, I'm thinking a DE-10 (maybe two) and a holdout blaster, possibly strapped to my boot. I'm hoping to have this troopable by March 24, so hopefully the nice weather we've been having here continues.  ;)

Size and spacing look good, But straighten your chest diamond  ;)

Haha thanks man. The diamond is actually centered in relation to the velcro for my other plates, but velcro also gives me a lot of wiggle room, so I think my chest plates were just a bit off from where they should be... :P

So my costume progress is pretty much dead in the water at this point, because I won't be able ro make any headway on the soft parts until August. With band and school starting up then, it'll be just as I'm losing my free time too. In the mean time though, I'm making what progress I can. The latest update I have to share is my helmet. Unfortunately, I notice a lot more imperfections with some paint on it now, so it's back to sanding and smoothing soon, but It's getting closer and I thought it would be good to post pics in the context of the other armor. I just edited out the Visor area for now, as I don't have a welding shield yet.

And an older addition that I havent posted yet are my boots. I found them at a thrift store and I think they'll look good with some armor. I'm also using spats to make them look taller (which will look better than the pictures, where it was taped on because the zipper has not been attached.)

Running down the other things I still have to do for this (mostly for my own reference) I still need to fix the backplate (snapped while I was shaping it), make shoulders and gaunts, a cod, thighs, knees, shins and boot armor. for soft parts, I need to sew the sash, make a holster, possibly take in the vest a bit (it is a bit baggy as the pics show) and unfortunately get a new flightsuit.  the dark blue one didn't take the dye, so I'll just have to find a black one to start from. Then, as you've seen, there's the helmet, and I need to make my blaster. A bit daunting when I lay it all out like that, but as usual, Im just going to keep plugging away at what I can do as I can do it...
