o.k. i decided to do new chest plates as my old ones were too thin. so here is how i painted them.  
first i painted the silver base after the undercoat. them i used masking fluid for the scratches
next i added the gold for the highlights and placed the block templates for the sigils. then i sprayed the whole thing black
next step i added a "v" shape with grey
then masked a "v" then sprayed over it with black again
the next step was to add the blue on the inside
masked off again to add the inner layer of black
then i peeled all the layers an stensils. then proceded to clean all the linesup and added the final weathering with dry brush techniques
here is a comparison pic with the new armour on the left and the old plates
and here attached to the vest
