Here in the next few days I will be posting the schematics for what each barrel is made of and where to find the parts along with more information on the weapon itself. I will also be working on weathering this out as well. So far it's taken me about a week of work to get it to this point and one thing I've learned...I HATE epoxy putty...also I will be making a couple of Star Warsy Scopes here in the next few days as well to see how they go with this and I've already thought of another detail I need to add along with I need to create a bi-pod system as the clamp is not the bipod system, lol...

-------------------------------------------------------
UPDATE 6/18/10 - Here are the schematics for the barrels to show you what they are made of:

I just noticed that I forgot to put on the last piece of the Medium size barrel which is a 1' x 3/4' slip on bushing...

All the pipe and pipe fitting pieces are from Lowe's
The Nozzle piece on the end of the Long Range Barrel jic it's hard to see is a Wine Pour Spout from Target OXO brand, and normally sells for $6...I thought it looked really cool and would make a great nozzle end.

-------------------------------------------------------
Please excuse some of the poor backgrounds as my product table was not built for items of this size, I will need to work on that sometime. All images are by me - KSImagery.

Hope you like it.

More to come and thanks for comments and feedback.

That is completely brilliant.  And not even kind of a Nerf gun.  I may cry.

Now get out your silver paint and a dry brush and weather it up.
There's always free cheese in a mousetrap.

You did a good job modding the 249, I like the idea of the interchangeable barrels, good work!

Thank you. It took a ton of time trying to figure out how to make it NOT look like a 249, yet I knew I could retain some of it since that is what they did with the DLT-19 (MG-34), T21 (Lewis Gun), and the DL-44 (C96 Mauser) and a few others. I wanted to go for a look that it would take some effort to see the base, despite the stock being a dead giveaway. I tried to figure out a way to mod the stock, but would have had to completely tear up the back half of the weapon and figured, eh, it's ok to leave the stock anyway, and I like the ability to take take it off or leave it on.

Once I figured out the first barrel, next thing I knew, I had three designed and it wasn't a far stretch to do any of them once I got the first one done. I like that I don't have to be set on one mission role as this allows me to have some flexiblity and fun with it.

I have to admit, this has been both a total pain in the shebs and a total joy in seeing this take shape. I've learned a lot with this build and am still learning stuff.

Stay tuned for the final paint version to come soon and I realized that I still want to add one or two small bits to finish the look and I need to figure out the Star Wars scopes, which I'm pretty sure I have and rig up a removable mount system for the new scopes.

Also, still need to figure out a bipod system as I want it to be removable and I think I've got it figured out.

Stay tuned for more stuff and thank you all for your great comments and compliments.

Yeppers, when I post the schematic for parts you will totally know right where to get such parts. They make it so easy to have fun and make different barrels...love it!

Started weathering the bits tonight, got the short barrel, small scope and large scope weathered up. Going to get up tomorrow and work on finishing the rest. It takes me a few hours to weather bits as I take my time. Anyway, hoping to have some more pics up here in a couple of days.

Thanks!

what about the para stock:

that modded out could really throw people off especially since it's not a heavily common stock, unless your wearing a maroon beret or are a geardo.

Now that is an idea...I will have to see if I can find just the stock as that version of the 249 is like $300-400. But that is a great idea and I think I know what I will be looking for while I work on this and other mando stuff.

Thanks!

Just in case,

I added in an update to the original post showing the information on what the barrels are made of.

More to come, I'm off to look at more bits and going to try and figure out another stock and bipod system.

Cya.

Dude that's awesome! I could tell it was a M249, but the mods are impressive. That thing looks amazing.

Just a thought check out airsoft supply websites I know a few of them have areas called "Bone Yards" or something along the lines in which they sell guns that don't work or are defected at extremely discounted prices. Here's a couple links for you to check them out.

Evike.com Bone Yard:

Airsoftgi Bone Yard:
http://www.airsoftgi.com/index.php?cPath=275

On a side note I did find the stock for that gun for only $99 dollars. Don't know if thats good for you but so far its better than the really expensive prices you originally saw.

http://www.airsoftpost.com/product_info.php?cPath=25_598&products_id=25783

Hope some of that helps. I'll keep an eye out for you.
