those were the biggest templates I had. That was a lot of work to get those plates and i'm out of sintra. I'm okay with the extra plate. Segmented ab plates are okay. I've seen the red guy, I cant remember his name, with it.

heh, I think we're misunderstanding eachother. you're going the roundabout backwards way of trying to fix a problem that should be fixed by starting over. if they are the largest templates you could find, then you need to make them bigger. trace the template, then get a ruler and make them proportionally bigger on all sides  ;)

segmented plates are in segments to fit a certain design, this is not segmented. this is filler.

Yeah.. The difference with Kraam's plate and yours is, remove Kraam's and his kit would still meet CRL's.... Remove yours, and it wouldn't. Also, you're not looking to use 'segmented'.. Segmented implies jointed plates... That kind of plate would be called 'floating' or 'ablative' armor or such. It's in no way segmented.

Honestl? I prefered the old gaunts. And the kit just looks terribly out of balance without some sort of knees. With the CRL exception to allowing properly (and minimally) modded SWAT knees, I see no reason why not to save up the $13 or so and grab some from EBay. And if funds are a problem.. Trust me... It's better to wait and have your approval with a well and fully done kit than the bare minimum. I'm wrestling with that problem myself currently.

Scott,

I know you don't want to reinvent the wheel.  Give this a try, take your chest plates, ,  trace them out on a cheap piece of poster paper enlarge them proportionately and then stick them to ya.  May sound silly/waste of time but then you could compare the two sizes visually and decide what route to take.  Just my .02 :)

Tobias, I realize this is the 3rd time...and your probably going to start feeling like you'll never make it in at this point.

Your not the first person who has had trouble, but let me assure you that every stage of your kit has been an improvement over the last.

Like Lucas said, grab a ruler and add about an inch all around those plates.  To big is always better than to small, because you can fix big by trimming the plates down.

Also, maybe you should go with the cheaper method of using trashcan plastic instead of sintra (unless Sintra is cheaper for you).

The ankle cuffs on your flight suit really need to be dressed up much better.  This is easy to do yourself by sewing a velcro closuer that allows you to tighten the cuffs of your pants around your ankle.

I can deal with the short sleeves and lack of knees as those aren't CRL issues, but the other afore-mentioned things will have to be changed.

what he said ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

i see no problem with the extra belly plate...it seems a little pointless but mainly because there is no design too it...its just a random rectangle stuck to your belly....if you remake the plates to a bigger size you should have no trouble with that open area

and i know you dont need em for CRL's anymore but still a set of pouches would make that kit SOOOOOOOOOOOOO much better because the extra armour on your belly isnt gonna be a lot of use if you have no amunition for your weapons :P...just a though for ya

suzysurplus on ebay does brilliant cheap pouches you could easilly use

and i dont see the knees as a problem because i dont have em either buddy

good lukc and hopefully your 4th attempt will be the final attempt :)

if you need a hand with templates or anything shoot me a pm and i'll see if i can dig out the xxl plates we made a few years ago and make up a template to scan in for ya :)

Novall,

Do you think the second ab plate is not necessary? The reason why I haven't rebuild is that I just got these plates built by earlier this year on the biggest templates. And its the whole work of going back and redoing everything with tracing, cutting, sanding, painting and such is something I dont want to do again.

The reason for that second ab plate is because i thought it was a segmented ab plate. I was modeling after Kraam's thinking that more armor coverage is better.

Everytime I get feedback, it sounds like I give excuses but its just how I try to logically (in my point of view I was logic) do things.

You're right, it is a lot of work. That's why not everyone in the world has a set of Mandalorian armor laying around.

Sometimes it can be really hard man. 2 steps forward 1 step back but, you are moving in teh right direction. Each attempt has proven better than the one before but still needs that little extra something.

I want you to try something as an experiment before you resubmit app pix. This MAy solve the problems. It may not. Yes, the plates are a bit undersized. However, no one said that your belts must sit at your waist. It's not uncommon for people to ride them above or below their waists to make everything look correct.

First, loose that second ab plate. I see what you were doing there but honestly, it's worse than than sumo wrap thing you had before. We need to get you a nice wide girthbelt or sash. Even trying that old one may work BUT you need to dye it another color, white like that it looked like you wrapped an old pillow case around your waist. Get it dyed and put it on. However, raise it so it's top edge is 1 to 2 inches below the bottom edge of your ab plate. Let's look at that see where to go from there. If that doesn't solve it, you will likely need larger plates.

Many are finding, like I did, that the good ol Fett plates just don't work to hot for their body types. That's why I made the switch to the legacy cut plates. They are provide more coverage and are much more forgiving. Ive seen them on big guys, little guys, round guys and thin guys an dthey seem to work pretty well on most any body type. If we can't salvage what you have now, that may be something to consider.

I'm trying to weather that girth so it looks weathered. Its white because I have a lot of green and a little white so I thought a white girth would work. And that "sumo wrap" is that belt right there cut down and sewn up to look better.

No way to keep ab plate number 2? Should I try to design it to look better, cut it down? How is Kraam good with his second plate but mine isnt? I dont get it.

I have taken my time. It was a year ago around this time I started and that was with ABS pre vacuum form boba plates. Then moved to those plates right there. And I've taken my time on it. It just seems like everything I do to get somewhere doesnt. Like A'den said, two steps forward, one back.

I would try posting pictures of your various stages rather than an "I resubmitted". You tend to catch problems a lot sooner that way.
