if you know the model and the brand you can look it up online

i wasnt able to find much on my particular model, but i have figured out it is a timing issue. i can get the timing down just right by messing with the gears, but then when i put the little metal plate back over the feed dogs or w/e, the timing is instantly off again. im going to wait til the weekend to spend more time on this lol. gotta take a break before i rage quit!

I really don't want to sound like I'm being mean or anything, but I do know a common mistake people make with sewing machines that could help you out. Are you making sure to catch the lower thread when you put new thread in? Also, have you made sure everything is properly placed?

A lot of people who are new to sewing machines often forget the thread doesn't go straight into the needle from the top bobbin. So I'm just making sure you've already tried all this. :) If it's none of that, it might be a problem with the tension. You can try relieving this by switching out the thread. Some threads get tension problems really easily, because of looser strands, or an elastic property. If your thread looks old, replace it, and try again. I hope this helps. ^_^

Thanks for the advice, it doesnt sound mean, you are just covering the basics of troubleshooting with me. But yes, i made sure the needle was in correctly, i tried all tension settings, the thread is brand new and singer brand, the bobbin is filled properly and i pulled the loop through. after taking the bottom off and rotating by hand, i was actually able to see the the hook is not where it needs to be when the needle is at its lowest point, which is why i think it is a timing issue.

Oh, I see. o.o That's a problem. I'm not sure how to fix that on your own. You might have to take it in to be repaired.

i found a few youtube videos that will help me. now its all trail and error on figuring out the exact spot the hook needs to be in. I have gotten close, but had to quit because i was getting frustrated. Ill work on it more this weekend.
