Left-hand Crush Gaunt - Aluminum

I started the left-hand crush gaunt tonight, creating the shapes for the three center fingers and sewed them up with thread for testing.

(no piece is identical, better number them)


Thumb and pinky will be covered as well and the knuckle plate has to be reshaped a bit and needs an elastic fixture to the wrist that pulls it back when the fingers are outstretched. For now, my attention rested on the dimensions and agility of the center fingers which define the overall design.


Surprisingly, I can still handle my camera at this claw length, but I'll definitly not increase that length. I hate fingerrings and nail polish in my daily life, actually. So I made sure that I can take off the crush gaunt without touching the gauntlet that coveres my lower arm to the elbow.

...And I still have to figure a way to fix the elements when working in metal and no longer paper.

Those look to be wicked when you are finished, as for fixing how about leather/rivets.  If you went with a rivet idea maybe some solid aluminum wire, possibly a few strands rendered into mini rivets might work.

Dorn: yes, I'm quite find of the "sewing" method of connection by now. I'll see what it can do. I have croceted with thin wire already. as long as you don't nick it, it can take quite a pull.

All kidding aside, that thing is going to be scary-cool when it's finished because just in paper form, I wouldn't want to be anywhere near it.
