Allowable boots
« on: Aug 01, 2012, 12:04 PM »
I was thinking of using an old pair of motorcross boots that I have lying around for my Mando costume.  I know zippers are a no-no so I wanted to know if I have to cover the buckles of these boots.  They look like this except mine are all black.

Do I need to add boot armor or are these good as is?  Again my logos are black.

Logos will need to be covered or removed ;) other than that they should be ok

Yeah, as Niabi stated, pretty much just have to hide logos and brand names. That said, unless you have access to get these very cheap or have a pair around, these are typically expensive boots. grabbinga  pair of 20-30 dollar pull on leather boots from a Payless or Walmart and adding armor to them would be much more cost effecient.

Well I was going to dual use these underneath my Darth Revan costume as well.  Are the buckles allowed to be visible?  Just want to make sure.  And yes I have many pairs of these lying around.  Motorcross runs in the family.

Ah gotcha. Buckles are fine zippers and laces are the ones that need to be covered.

Awesome, thanks for all your help.  The logos should be covered by my flight suit so no worries there.  Do I have to alter the soles of the boots if there is a logo embedded in the treads?
