Easy and cheap Knee plate tutorial.
1. Buy some easy knee pads from the store 5-10 bucks.
2. If they are like mine, cut out the inside bubbles, like the pics below.
3. Then get a dremel and sand down the logo.
4. If there is a logo on the cloth, simply cover it with another piece of the same colored cloth. (or color it with clothpaints)
5. Paint and battle damage.
sorry for the dog hair on the velcro! will get that off!
I found These kinds of kneeplates to be very comfortable and hey, it comes with its own attatchment system.



Will post pics of the sanded, and finished plates when i finish them

May require a bit more modding to keep them from looking like sports pads.  Usually the part that gives it away is the nylon padding around the plastic armor.

Yeah, as great a base as these are they still look very "Earth"-y and not very Star Wars-y. But its a good start. :)

I used those same pads for my old knees. I got rid of everything except the plastic shells, then added leather tabs on the sides and a plain elastic band. I also painted them up to match my colour scheme and added a few spikes.  They were OK, but if I were to use them again, I would go even further and cut the shells into a slightly different shape to further obscure what they were made for. Like any real-world items, the more you modify them the better. :)
