if you can make it look weathered and battle scarred then you could keep it and upgrade later

Done just that, and I've put another paint line in as well, to keep the focus away from it, it looks ok and I'll get some use out of it before I go the fiberglass cover route.

Here's the crack:

And my plasti dip came through today, so I've coated the inside of my helmet.

I had a simialar crack on my Jaing Skirata armor chestplate. Cer'jo Aclos had one just like it on his collar plate as well.

To do a "weathered" repair, we glued them at the seam and then used some 1 minute 2 part epoxy to make what looked like a weld mark on the top of the crack. Then used a silver paint pen and some blackwash. It ended up looking like an old weld mark. Pretty cool actuall;y.

Right,

Visor is now cut out, I used a fine etching tool on my dremel to cut around the fingers of the Krayt and the corners. The rest was taken out with my wheel cutting tool. The etching tool takes longer, but it's better than having a fingerless Krayt :)

I'll be popping down to B&Q today to see if I can find some wire mesh of sorts. I am going to make holes into the earpiece on the left side to give me some ventilation, so I want some mesh to cover it and make it look a bit more professional looking as with the keyslots.

I have some fans that I have made for the vents, the key with this is that one of the fans will face outwards to improve airflow around the helmet, meaning the sweat will be taken away from my head as opposed to being blown around inside the helmet.

At least that's the theory anyway :)

Just the rest of the fans done and the helmet is complete.

I did install one fan, which was the most difficult, it's one with some LEDs attached.

Tadaaaaa!

Well, there's a little more to go, install the rest of the fans, make the crotchplate and buff up and paint the belly plate, as I said before I will probably wear a cloak for getting myself a member status, but I fully intend to backplate and jetpack in the future.

I found my old lycra baggy pants, back in the days of being stupidly overweight and I have cut them down to make a girth belt (they are red), I also cut the leg from one of my old singlets to make a collar, lycra breaths very easily, so it will cover the neck without being unduly sweaty.

All then is to get my gaunts and kneepads all sorted out and I'll start on the weapon.

Not so neat on the inside, a bit of a hack job, but hey, it's cool and breezy in there :)
