Knoxville Gathering?

In case you haven't seen the AdventureCon 2010 thread, AdCon is making some major changes this year. They're moving to a new location and setting it on Memorial Day weekend and, as a result, it's most likely not going to be the big Merc gathering it has been the last few years.

I suggested in the other thread that we create our own get together instead. An aliit reunion, of sorts. A few people seemed to like the idea, so I figured I'd start a thread to start gauging interest and start collecting ideas. A gathering such as this would require a lot of planning (though I, for one, suggest we build off the model of past AdCons.) so now would be the time to start talking about it if we actually wanted to make it happen next year year.

So what does everyone think?

I think it's a cool idea...but I'm probably not looking for it to happen until 2011.  Right now my 2010 convention schedule is teetering around Celebration V.  I can't even commit to any other conventions out of state until they announce when/where C5 is happening just in case I might actually be able to attend it.

Yeah, I think C5 has really got alot of people up in the air right now for 2010.

I think it's a great idea for 2011 however, and if the planning starts early enough then it should be much fun!

I'm down for it in 2011, but 2010 is going to be rough trying to juggle all the local cons to grow members here, as well as the baby coming...

That said, I think it would be an awesome idea, and I think Mid to Early summer would be best.. Sometime around May-July or so..  I'm partial to May 26th, but that's just 'cause it's my b-day and i'll be taking it off already!

I suppose skipping a year might be a good idea with CV lurking about. I still think now is the time to start working on it, though, so that it can go off without a hitch. (Unless, of course, they come to their senses next year and restore AdCon to the way it was.)

I requested a visitor's guide for Knoxville the other day and it arrived in the mail today. Going to look it over to see if I can't find some good activities to fill up the days when we'd normally be at the con.

Whoa, didn't know AdCon was moving to Memorial Day. We are wanting to go next year, but if not too many people are going, we may not make the looooong journey.
