My Monochromatic Female Mando
« on: Aug 27, 2009, 10:11 PM »
Im finally getting around to creating this thread, yay!
I was hoping the insight & new ideas would be refreshing now that Im closing in on completion of my first mandalorian suit.

My boyfriend, Thomas/One End/Solus Keer has helped & inspired me the most; the armor is his "15-minute miracle" under the 4+ hours of autherntic battle damage I added, but Im excited to be doing a costume solo.

Heres What I have gotten myself into so far:

Ah, ventilation! Thank god for owning a Dremel 400 Series XPR™ Rotary Tool!

After inhaling a pound of bondo & cutting out the visor! Yay

Excellent paint job by Thomas...moments before I suggested he ruin it! Mwahaahahahaa!

...thinking of how I should paint the helmet...

Shiny Hammered Gold

Burgundy cheek & vent accents added

New monochromactic paint job

My boots

Yay Foamies!

My cape!

Duct tape where the velcro will be soon

Cape mode

Feel free to input any questions, comments, concerns or compliments  ;D

..and thanks for looking!

WOW. I can tell I'm going to love this just like One End's own set. That meshy material over the front is just too cool. I love the muted colors of the armor as well.

Looking great so far! I love seeing costumes of any kind come together through hard sweat and tears.

Yeah my suit is a slight knock-off of his own design, the white stripe & all :) Glad you like!

This is an Amazing looking set!  I am really digging the wide open look of the visor on the bucket.  Still very Mando, but it will definitly help visability.

The over all look is just amazing.

That veil (spelling?) thing you have on the helmet is really awesome. It adds a lot of character. Great work so far!

Yeah I initially liked the wide eyed look, it reminds me of the clone trooper helmets & definitely helps with vision!

Thank you! I thought some fabrics & the veil would add the effeminate touch I was aiming for ;D

Thank you, my snake eyes costume was so fun! You should see our house, the huge tarp is off the wall/ceiling now but it still looks like a workshop 24/7 between the two of us and our costumes.

Hahaha! ..and yes, I get told I look like Pink pretty often, I was even almost pushed off a freeway off-ramp because an SUV full of teenagers screaming and waiving their arms wanted an autograph. Ive got her shebs but thats the only similarities I see ;)

Very awesome what you've pulled together so far!  Love the use of the colors and especially love the wraps and fabrics you are incorporating into it.  Keep up the progress pics!
